On 30 April 2018, Fr. Matthew-Anthony Hysell of the Diocese of Edmonton made his profession at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in River Forest, Illinois, at the hands of the Provincial Promoter fr. Thomas McDermott, OP.
Fr. Hysell was ordained on 7 December 2012 as Canada's first deaf priest. He will be moving to Ottawa for two years to begin his doctoral studies at the Dominican University College while living in the convent of the Dominican Fathers.
