Members of the Chapter during the Eucharistic Celebration

It was a day of thanksgiving for the Chapter of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga, on 24 November 2020, liturgical memorial of St. Vincent Liem de la Paz and companion martyrs. On that occasion, the members witnessed the rites of profession and admission of their brother priests in the fraternities of St. Dominic. The Prior Provincial of the Dominican Province of the Philippines, fr. Napoleon B. Sipalay Jr., OP, presided over the rite with the assistance of the Provincial Promoter, fr. Arden Xerxes D. Dacuma, OP. The ritual was integrated with the Eucharistic Celebration at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga.

Seven priests made their profession: Msgr. Antonio Bustos; Fr. Marcelino Mandap; Fr. Marius Roque; Fr. Edgar Panlilio; Fr. Ramon Torres; Fr. Ronnie Cao; and Fr. Jowel Gatus. In addition, two priests and one deacon were received in the fraternity: Fr. Mark Christopher de Leon; Fr. Ricarthy Macalino; and Rev. Jaycar Silva.

In one of his letters to the Order, fr. Bruno Cadore, OP, affirmed that the sign of fraternity is “itself a kind of preaching.” He also added that the one called “brother” is a member of the human communion in the friendship of God. He is “a member of that great family of the friends of God that the Church is called to become.” Indeed, for a friar and a diocesan priest, they are both brothers in St. Dominic.
